| Some of the pictures you see in my portfolio are from advertising shoots on location, some are model test photographs or other portfolio shots, and some are from photographer personal projects. Some of the best are out-takes from advertising assignments, because we have all the elements in place for a great shoot- great models, the location lighting and production crew, the grip assistant, hair, wardrobe, and makeup stylists, etc. Often the shoot is very tightly scripted by the art director and client, so the final shot for the job may not necessarily correspond to the style I might present in my promotional photography. This is an example of one of those grab shots we got in between the paying ones. We had a few minutes of waiting between photographs we were shooting in Central Park in New York, and this was one I got with one of the models playing with her little kid on the grass. It was one of those funky poses I happened to be in the right place at the right time for. A little fill light to supplement the natural lighting gave the picture a little extra snap. Sometimes you can see the elements starting to look interesting for a cool photo, and can get in position to grab a great moment if it actually goes down like you hope. This was one of those. |
